Hayley Matthews Biography

Hayley Matthews is a talented West Indies cricket player who has been making waves in women’s cricket around the world. She was born on 22nd January 1998 in Barbados. She made her international debut at the age of 16 in a Twenty20 match against New Zealand on 27th September 2014. Since then, she has been a consistent performer for the West Indies women’s cricket team and has also played in various T20 leagues around the world. Recently she joined the Mumbai Indians in WPL 2023.

Career Highlights:

Matthews has had several notable achievements in her career so far. She was a member of the West Indies team that won the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in 2016, where she was named Player of the Match in the final. In the same year, she was also named the ICC Women’s Emerging Player of the Year. Matthews has also played in various T20 leagues around the world, including the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia, the Kia Super League in England, and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in the West Indies.

Women Premier League (WPL) 2023 for Mumbai Indians

In the inaugural match of the (WPL) Women’s Premier League 2023, She hit the first six of the tournament, which was also the first-ever six in the WPL. She achieved this feat while playing for the Mumbai Indians, who won the match against the Gujarat Giants. Matthews’ performance in the WPL has once again highlighted her skills as a top-order batter and an aggressive opener. She has also been a valuable contributor with her off-spin bowling, which adds depth to the Mumbai Indians’ squad. In the second match against RCB, she scored 70 runs and also took three wickets, and adjusted as the player of the match.
